A story of tradition, passion, and authentic Thai cuisine in the heart of Cairo.

1991

The Pioneers of Thai Cuisine

On November 1, 1991, Bua Khao (White Lotus) was founded by Yuphadee Sawamiwast and Noppawan Na Nagara. As the very first Thai restaurant in Egypt, they became true pioneers, introducing Cairo to the rich culinary traditions and authentic hospitality of Thailand.

1998

The Expansion

Seven years of passion and acclaim led to a grand expansion in 1998. The restaurant flourished into eight prestigious dining locations within Egypt's finest luxury hotels, alongside an international branch in Istanbul, sharing authentic Thai gastronomy with the world.

2011

Returning to Our Roots

As the country navigated changing times, we chose to return to our essence: pouring all our heart, dedication, and culinary mastery exclusively into our beloved original Maadi flagship to preserve its intimate warmth and uncompromising authenticity.

2023

Sala Thai Cuisine

In 2023, after more than three decades of celebrated heritage, the restaurant embarked on a vibrant new chapter under the name Sala Thai Cuisine, continuing to welcome loyal patrons and new generations of diners.
